Moving from Stuck to STUCK!

I don't know about you but sometimes I just feel stuck! It feels like I am attached with tape, tacks, or super glue to a situation, circumstance, or people who are keeping me where I am when I want to go where I am going! You know what I mean. People are treating you like you were but you are trying to leave where you were to get to where you are going! So in my commitment to myself I committed to moving from stuck to STUCK!

I mean I will not allow people, situations, circumstances, or MYSELF to keep me stuck! In fact, I am creating a new meaning for STUCK so that when I feel stuck I have the power and the authority to transform what that means. STUCK is an acronym for Spiritually Transforming Ugly Circumstances in Kairos time! I want you to really get what that means! It means that I am spiritually transforming the ugly circumstances in my life in the Kairos time of God! What is happening in the chronos or chronological time frame is irrelevant to what God WILL do in His Kairos time!

I feel a preach coming on with that word!!! We have the authority and the power to use our mouths to change, transform, and transmogrify our UGLY circumstance with the words that we speak! Our mouth can either be our greatest asset or our worst enemy! We have a choice. When we declare and decree the Word of God, it cannot and will not return to HIM void but it shall accomplish all that it is sent forth to accomplish! OUR words may change our minds, but HIS word will change the atmosphere and an atmospheric change will change our circumstances! I have already moved from stuck to STUCK just that quick!

STUCK,

Dr. VG

Making a Commitment to Yourself

At some point in all of our lives we've made commitments to organizations and clubs, churches, people, education, jobs, etc. But today I want to talk about making a commitment to yourself. A real commitment that you follow through with day after day after day! I know that you have all of these other commitments, but what do they mean and can you keep them if you don't commit to yourself.

Let me tell you what making a commitment to yourself can do for you. Making a commitment to yourself allows you to focus on doing what is necessary to move you from where you are to where you desire to be. It also gives you the opportunity to work on yourself and your character, work ethic, integrity, etc. so that you have the required character to keep you where God is taking you. Don't get there and not be able to stay because you don't have the required character to stay in the place of elevation and exaltation.

Making a commitment to yourself also allows you to identify people and things in your life that are preventing you from getting to your next place. I hate to be the one to tell you this but to get where God is taking you, you will have to lose some people and some things. I'm not telling you what I think, heard, or believe. I am telling you what I know from experience both mine and others. As much as we would like for all of our family and loved ones to get where God is taking us, they will not all understand and that's okay. It simply is what it is. But don't miss where you are going trying to explain to others or convince others that where you are going is a legitimate place to go.

A part of making a commitment to yourself is resolving not to allow what others think or feel about what God is doing in your life or where He is taking you dictate whether or not you go! We cannot afford to not get where God has for us to be because ultimately our presence in that place is not about us but about the lives that will be impacted by our presence in that place. There are people waiting for you to get to your next place because it gives them hope that they can get to their next place.

Some might say that making a commitment to yourself is selfish, but you have to have something to give someone when you are giving to others. Our problem is that those who are selfless are sometimes so selfless that they totally deplete their emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial resources in places and with people who do not appreciate the sacrifice. Restore yourself through your commitment and be a wise steward of your resources knowing that God has the ability to supernaturally restore what you have sown when you sow in good ground.

Today I am making a commitment anew to myself. A commitment to consistent growth and development. A commitment to pursue my relationship with God unapologetically. A commitment to pursue my God-given passions and goals with a relentlessness that may not be understood. A commitment to balance in my life by giving my family time, love, and fun experiences. A commitment to live, love and laugh unapologetically. A commitment to enjoy my life because I don't know how long I will have life. A commitment to myself that is unshakable because I have to get where God wants me to be.

Make a commitment to yourself and watch God move on your behalf. Relationships 101: Sort Don't Change

In relationships, we make a major error. We want to change people into who we want and need them to be. Changing others is not the answer. Nor do you have to become who someone else thinks you should be. If you find yourself in a relationship or potential relationship and they do not agree with you on some things that are important to you, then simply sort them into another category. It doesn't mean that they have no value in your life or that something is wrong with them. It simply means that they are wrong FOR YOU!

Instead of accepting that fact and appreciating it, we demonize them or say that something is wrong with them when it is simply who they are. I'll use me as an example. I like to have doors opened for me. Car doors, restaurant doors, building doors, doors! That's important to me. But I also like to fix my man's plate and make sure that he is taken care of at the table. That's equally important to me. Some would say that I expect too much, but I would say I expect what I expect and God has A man out there for whom that will not be too much. I only need 1! We make the mistake of trying to lower our expectations or standards because we feel a sense of desperation and others tell us it is too much. Remember, we are not changing we are sorting. Sorting for the type of man for whom that's not too much. The others may become good friends or not, but it doesn't mean something is wrong with them.

The lesson of sorting is one that I have definitely struggled with in my life. However, because of my unwillingness to sort, it has resulted in multiple marriages and divorces. Some would say something must be wrong with you and it has been. I've been unwilling to sort on the front end, but had to sort on the back end. Sort in the beginning and avoid a lot of unnecessary hurt and pain down the road. You can't be an eagle in a chicken coop and expect to find a lot of other eagles in the coop. Fly the coop and soar! Watch and see if you don't encounter another eagle...EVENTUALLY!

Our goal should be to allow people to be who they are and accept them. But we should also accept ourselves for who we are and embrace it. Sort don't change. Life will be a lot easier that way!

Sorting,

Dr. VG

Change Starts with Your Mind!

Life may not always turn out the way you want it to turn out. You may not be the person you want to be or have the job you want to have. You may not have a relationship or the relationship that you want to have. But this one thing I know, each one of us has the power to change ALL of that! But change requires realistic assessment, evaluation, plans, and action!

Michael Jackson said that you can make a change if you start with the man or woman in the mirror. No don't start primping or congratulating yourself on how beautiful you are. Start by looking at the things you may not want to see. The things that are ugly and dark that you want to push under the sofa instead of sweeping out so that you can deal with them.

True change requires a thorough sweeping, cleaning, dusting, and purging! Purging is to rid of impure or undesirable elements. We all have some in our lives. So we need to be honest about that and deal with them for what they are. Honesty with ourselves is difficult and without it we can't be honest with others. The truth is that if you are not where you want to be, you are not ready to be there. When you get ready, there is nothing and no one who can stop you from being there. But readiness is a process that starts with a change in your mind.

Today open yourself up to changing your mind about your situation and circumstances. Change your behaviors to line up with your new mindset. Now change your habits to change your outcomes! Change...a small word with a big cost. Change will cost you something so decide up front if you are willing to pay the cost, then budget for the change. Remember, it starts with your mind!

Changing,

Opportunity is...

Opportunity is the culmination of prayer, preparation, and expectation. You see, we pray for an opportunity, but prayer without preparation is a setup for failure. Although failure is not the end of the world and can actually work in your favor, we should also do everything in our power to position ourselves for success. When you fail after doing all that you can, you can look back and say, "Okay, I did all that I could with what I knew, what have I learned from all of this."

My goal is to share with people that prayer without action is simply wishing. Pray and prepare. Prepare your mind, body, and soul for where you are going. You have to get your mind right because opportunity with the wrong mindset will still position you for failure. However, opportunity with the right mindset positions you for success. The body follows your mind so get your mind right and your actions will follow.

A part of getting in position for opportunity is developing an expectation for the opportunity to occur. You have to believe with everything in you that you will get the opportunity and be prepared to run with it to get your outcome! God desires the best for us, but if we only want the good He will let us have that. Expect God's best in your life and for your life. Expect opportunities that cost other people thousands of dollars, hours, and years to come your way quickly and for less or free! Then expect that you will do so much with the opportunity that you draw other opportunities to you! Opportunity is...what YOU make it! Make it GREAT!

Prayed up, Prepared, & Expecting Opportunity!

No Longer Distracted from My Destiny: Laser-focused!!

As we kick off the month of March and we have shifted into a new dimension, we must recognize that the shift will bring with it some distractions. Distractions come in many forms...people, situations, issues, emotions, etc. But it really doesn't matter the form, what matters is our ability to recognize them for what they are. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that everyone who ends up being a distraction is doing it intentionally. I really don't believe that at all. Some maybe, but most not at all.

The reality is that it is our job to protect our destiny from any and all distractions. You may be asking, how do I know if it is a distraction. If it consumes the time that is set aside for destiny work, then it is officially a distraction. If you would rather talk to them than to do what you need to do, then they are officially a distraction. That does not mean that the person may not have purpose in your life, but it does mean that you have to put them in a place that will not distract you. Many times the enemy with his so-called slick self will use two people to distract each other and essentially kill two birds with one stone. We really have to seek God on our connections and if they should exist as well as how they should exist.

It is time to stop just letting things happen in our lives to distract us from our destiny. Something or someone will always be there attempting to do just that but we have to guard, protect, and fight for our destiny. After all, if we don't fight for it, then who will. Move, remove, and destroy all of the distractions keeping you from your destiny. If you don't handle them, then they will definitely handle you! Let's no longer be distracted from our destiny! Let's be laser-focused on what we have to do to get to where we are going and watch God do the rest!

Laser-focused!

Transitioning into a New Dimension: SHIFT!!!!

Lately, I have been faced with all of the challenges of being in transition. Transition in relationships. Transition in living situation. Transition in the spiritual. Normally, the thought of all of that transition would make me want to roll over and die, but not now. I find myself embracing my transitions not because I want to go through all of these changes at once, but because they are going to happen whether I embrace them or not. So I have finally learned to simply embrace what God allows because there is always purpose in it.

When God is transitioning us, we may find ourselves alone or our circle shrinking to a seemingly nonexistent point. It may seem lonely at times. It may even seem as though the world is against us and they MAY be, BUT GOD! But God is more than the whole world against us! But God says that "no weapon formed against us shall prosper." But even Jesus said concerning His crucifiers who mocked Him on the cross, "Forgive them for they know not what they do."

All of these scriptures are true but challenging to accept as reality because they are counter to our human nature which is to just whine, complain, and feel sorry for ourselves while we play the victim. Well, transitioning into a new dimension and not just level means that we shift how we handle attacks because attacks will and must come. Because they must come, we have to move beyond being ruled by extreme emotions by the attacks and do what must be done to shift ourselves which the world may see as being selfish. Don't let that move you!

You have a mission and a purpose and anything and anyone who detracts from that mission and purpose must be moved or dealt with differently. If you can't move them, move yourself  because your destiny is too important to abort because of foolishness. You see, we get it twisted. It may appear that fight is about people, situations, or things, but the fight is really about destiny. Destiny decisions cost! Let me say that again, destiny decisions cost! They cost Jesus and they will cost us!

When Peter told Jesus that he wouldn't let Him go to Jerusalem and suffer, Jesus' response was to the spirit of fear in Peter which He told to "get behind" Him. There are some folks who have spirits that you have to tell to get behind you, because where you are going you can't afford to have people with doubt or fear distracting you from your destiny. I know that sounds harsh, but when Jesus needed to perform a GREAT miracle He put everyone out of the room except Peter, James, and John. Now notice that the same one who had been in the room for the GREAT miracles as well as all of the other ones ended up trying to prevent Jesus from doing what was necessary for Him to transition into a new dimension. But the same one also denied Him three times before he was restored by Christ to do a great work.

What am I saying in all of this? Sometimes you have to shift people's position in your life so that they can grow to be who God desires them to be and to do what God desires them to do. But you have to transition, no matter the cost and it will cost you. The disciples had to leave families and land, but Jesus promised to restore hundredfold because they willingly gave those things up for His name's sake. You only get sevenfold for what the enemy takes, but hundredfold for what you voluntarily give up. Wow!

It is time to transition into a new dimension. A dimension that will require your faith to operate on a higher level. A dimension that will thin out your circle. A dimension that will pull stuff out of you both good and bad. A dimension that will not allow you to be a victim, but requires you to walk in victory in all situations and circumstances. A dimension that will require you to take responsibility for your life, your choices, and your consequences. A dimension that will show you God in a new, deeper, more enlightened light. A dimension that you have never been to before and is foreign. You will learn a new language and new customs. Stop fighting the transition and just SHIFT!!!
